When is it Time for Hospice?

A serious illness can be overwhelming for your loved one and your family. That’s where hospice can help. It may be time to consider hospice for your loved one when:

    • They are hospitalized or have gone to the emergency room multiple times in the past 6 months
    • You are making more frequent phone calls to their physician
    • They start taking medication to lessen the pain
    • They are spending most of their day in a chair or a bed
    • Falls are more frequent over the past 6 months
    • They need help with any daily or routine activities such as bathing, eating, getting out of bed, or walking
    • They feel weaker or more tired
    • They have experienced weight loss and their clothes are noticeably looser
    • You notice they have a shortness of breath, even while resting
    • They experience frequent or recurring infections
